Berlin-Schöneberg, Germany · 2011

Pneumatic membrane structure engineered for the historic Gasometer at Berlin’s EUREF Campus. Structural design, detailing and shop drawings for a 61-metre-span membrane roof.

Project Overview

Gasometer Berlin-Schöneberg

The Gasometer in Berlin-Schöneberg is a 78-metre-high former gas storage facility located at the EUREF Campus. As part of the building’s restoration, a pneumatic membrane roof was developed to protect the TV studio located within the historic structure.

With a diameter of approximately 61 metres, the lightweight membrane construction spans almost the entire enclosed base of the Gasometer.
